Creative Movement (Ages 3-4 years old)
Creative Movement class is an introduction into dance that is taught with an emphasis on enjoying and discovering the magic of movement. This class will teach very basic ballet steps that are developmentally appropriate for this age and will also work on improving gross motor skills.

Ballet/Tap Combination Class
This class offers a combination of both ballet and tap techniques. The ballet portion of this class will focus on learning a series of age appropriate ballet steps, refining gross motor skills, and enhancing creativity through movement. This introduction to tap will include learning very basic tap steps with an emphasis on experiencing the joys of rhythm. Ballet/Tap level 2 and 3 will continue to work on skills from Ballet/Tap 1 at a more accelerated rate and will progress to more advanced steps.

Broadway Bound
Learn how to be a triple threat in this fun Broadway focused class. Students will learn dancing, singing, and acting skills in a friendly and age appropriate environment.

Mini Company (Ages 5-6 years old)
Company Class is designed to increase performance opportunities for students and also work on performance skills in addition to technique. Mini Company will perform in one routine locally, participate in one competition in the spring, and dance in CVDA’s Showcase. Dancers signed up for Mini Company must also be enrolled in either Ballet/Tap Combination Level 2 or 3, Broadway Bound, Mini Ballet, Mini Jazz/Tap, or Mini Hip Hop.

Beginning Ballet is the first level in the comprehensive ballet curriculum CVDA follows. This class provides the beginning fundamental skills and terminology needed to progress to the next levels of ballet technique. Intro to Ballet must be completed before moving to Ballet level 1.

Beginning Jazz (Ages 7-10 years old)
Central Virginia Dance Academy offers a fun introduction into jazz dance technique including a warm up that includes isolations, flexibility, and strength building. This class will also begin to work on jazz skills that will serve as the foundation for Jazz level 1. Students will also enjoy using these new skills in original jazz choreography. Using contemporary music, this class is a combination of classical jazz technique and funk.

Musical Theater class will help bring out the personality in a dancer’s performance skills. The focus will be on developing characterization of a dancer, understanding the story behind a dance, building self-confidence on stage, as well as performance skills tailored to Broadway styles.

Beginning Company
Company Class is designed to increase performance opportunities for students and to also work on performance skills in addition to technique. All company classes except beginning company will perform in CVDA's production of the Nutcracker in December and will also participate in a Spring Gala in April. In addition to performing in two productions company dancers also have the option to audition for competitions but are not required. Please see Children's Division for Beginning Company details.
